Supporting Emotional Freedom, Resilience & Lasting Change

Sometimes we find ourselves reacting in ways we don't fully understand. Perhaps certain emotions feel overwhelming, old memories still carry a strong emotional charge, or familiar patterns continue to repeat despite our best efforts to move forward. We may know logically that something is in the past, yet our mind and body continue to respond as though it is still happening.

Integral Eye Movement Technique (IEMT) is a gentle, focused approach that can help reduce the intensity of difficult emotions, shift unhelpful patterns, and support greater emotional freedom and resilience. At Mindful Moments Therapies, IEMT is offered within a safe, compassionate, and client-centred environment, helping you move towards greater calm, clarity, and emotional wellbeing.

What is IEMT?

Integral Eye Movement Technique (IEMT) is a therapeutic approach that uses specific patterns of eye movements to help process emotional experiences and reduce the impact of memories, feelings, and identity-based patterns that may be contributing to distress. Unlike therapies that require detailed retelling of difficult experiences, IEMT often focuses on how emotions are experienced in the present moment and supports the nervous system in responding differently to those experiences. Many clients describe feeling lighter, calmer, or less emotionally triggered after sessions, allowing them to respond to life's challenges with greater flexibility and self-awareness.

How Can IEMT Help?

IEMT may be helpful for a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Persistent worry
  • Phobias and fears
  • Low confidence and self-esteem
  • Limiting beliefs
  • Unhelpful emotional patterns
  • Feelings of shame, guilt, or self-criticism
  • Identity-based challenges
  • Repetitive emotional responses

For many people, IEMT offers a way of working that feels gentle yet effective, helping to create shifts where they may have previously felt stuck.

A Mind-Body Approach to Healing

As a Counsellor, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Somatic Therapist, I recognise that emotional experiences are often held not only in our thoughts but also within our bodies and nervous systems. IEMT can support the release of emotional intensity while increasing awareness of how emotions, memories, and beliefs are experienced physically. This can help clients develop a greater sense of regulation, safety, and connection within themselves. Rather than trying to "fix" or remove emotions, the aim is to create more space, flexibility, and choice in how you relate to them.

What Happens During an IEMT Session?

Sessions begin with a conversation about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like support with. Using guided questions and specific eye movement patterns, we explore the emotional responses, memories, or identity patterns that may be contributing to your current difficulties. You remain fully present and in control throughout the process, and there is no requirement to share more than feels comfortable. Many clients find the process surprisingly gentle and often report feeling calmer, clearer, and less emotionally activated following a session.

What Might IEMT Support?

IEMT may be particularly helpful if you find yourself:

  • Repeating the same emotional patterns
  • Feeling stuck in past experiences
  • Reacting more strongly than a situation seems to warrant
  • Carrying persistent feelings of anxiety or overwhelm
  • Struggling with confidence or self-belief
  • Feeling defined by past experiences or identities
  • Finding it difficult to let go of emotional pain

Together, we work to create greater freedom from patterns that no longer serve you, helping you move forward with increased confidence and emotional balance.

My Approach

Every client is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. I integrate IEMT alongside counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, somatic therapy, breathwork, EFT, and other therapeutic approaches where appropriate. This allows sessions to be tailored to your individual needs, goals, and pace. Clients often describe my approach as warm, calming, and supportive. My aim is always to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is IEMT safe?

Yes. IEMT is a gentle, non-invasive therapeutic approach that is designed to work within your comfort levels. You remain fully aware and in control throughout the session.

Do I need to talk about traumatic experiences in detail?

Not necessarily. One of the benefits of IEMT is that it can often help reduce emotional intensity without requiring a detailed discussion of difficult experiences.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your individual circumstances and goals. Some clients notice meaningful shifts within a few sessions, while others choose to integrate IEMT into longer-term therapeutic work.

Can IEMT be combined with other therapies?

Absolutely. IEMT works well alongside counselling, hypnotherapy, somatic therapy, EFT, breathwork, and other therapeutic approaches.

Healing does not always require reliving the past. Sometimes it begins with creating a different relationship with our experiences, our emotions, and ourselves. If you are feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, IEMT may offer a gentle yet powerful way to support emotional change, resilience, and greater freedom. I would be happy to discuss whether IEMT feels like the right approach for your journey.
