Couples & Relationship Counselling with Phiona

Relationships are at the heart of our wellbeing. They offer connection, belonging, and shared meaning, yet they can also bring challenges that feel isolating or exhausting when faced alone. When communication becomes strained, emotions feel misunderstood, or trust is impacted, having a safe and neutral space to explore concerns together can make a profound difference.

Phiona offers compassionate, professional couples and relational counselling for people at any stage of their relationship journey: including all relationship styles, cultures, and identities.

Who Is Counselling For?

Phiona welcomes and supports:

  • Heterosexual and LGBTQIA+ partners
  • New or longer-term relationships
  • Married, cohabiting, or committed partnerships
  • Monogamous, polyamorous, or ethically non-monogamous relationships
  • Relationships exploring sexual or intimacy concerns
  • Relationships adjusting to neurodiversity or mixed-neurotype dynamics
  • Co-parents and blended families
  • Partners navigating separation or rebuilding post-separation

Every relationship has a story and every story deserves to be heard.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling can provide support with:

  • Strengthening emotional connection and communication
  • Managing conflict with care and understanding
  • Rebuilding trust after betrayal, secrecy, or broken boundaries
  • Enhancing sexual intimacy or desire compatibility
  • Recognising unhelpful patterns and creating healthier responses
  • Navigating jealousy, insecurity, or unmet needs
  • Adapting to life changes, including parenting, health, work, or identity shifts
  • Exploring the future of the relationship with clarity and respect

Whether you hope to repair, reconnect, deepen, or peacefully transition, counselling offers space to reflect and grow together.

What to Expect in Your First Session

The initial session is an opportunity to:

  • Share what has brought you to counselling
  • Reflect on your relationship strengths and challenges
  • Discuss goals and intentions for therapy
  • Ask questions and understand the counselling process

Phiona will help you both feel comfortable and heard, ensuring each partner has equal space to speak without pressure or judgement. Together, you will create a plan that supports the direction you wish to move in.

There is no expectation to have all the answers, attending is a positive step in itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50–90 minutes.

How often will we meet?
Most couples attend weekly or fortnightly. You can decide together what feels right.

What if one of us is unsure about attending?
It’s common to have mixed feelings. Therapy can support you both in exploring these openly.

Do you take sides?
No. The relationship is the focus, both partners are valued and listened to.

Can we attend online if we are in different locations?
Yes, as long as both partners have private, stable connections.

Is counselling suitable if we are considering separating?
Absolutely. Therapy can support a clearer, kinder understanding of whether to stay together, transition apart, or create new post-relationship agreements.

Yes. Phiona is undertaking specialist training in sexual and relational therapy and offers a supportive space to explore intimacy concerns.
