Creating Visualisations and Meditations CPD

Creating Visualisations & Meditations in a Therapeutic Setting
A two-day practical workshop for therapists, counsellors and practitioners who want to deepen their therapeutic toolkit and develop confidence in creating and using visualisations and meditations within their work.
Visualisations and therapeutic meditations can offer clients another way of exploring their internal world. Used thoughtfully, they can support reflection, emotional regulation, grounding, resource-building, meaning-making and therapeutic exploration.
This workshop is designed to move beyond simply using pre-written meditations. Across two days, you will learn how to understand the components that make a therapeutic visualisation or meditation purposeful, safe and responsive to the individual client, before developing and practising your own.
The emphasis throughout is on therapeutic intention, language, pacing, client choice, creativity and ethical practice.
Day One: Understanding the Tools and Learning to Create
The first day focuses on developing your understanding of visualisation and meditation as therapeutic interventions and beginning to build the skills needed to create your own.
We will explore what makes a visualisation or meditation therapeutically useful, how different approaches can support different therapeutic intentions, and how language can influence the experience of the client.
You will explore:
- The therapeutic uses and potential benefits of visualisations and meditations
- Different types of visualisation and meditation approaches
- Identifying the therapeutic intention behind an intervention
- Structure and sequencing when writing a visualisation
- Developing therapeutic language that is clear, compassionate and client-centred
- The importance of pacing, tone, pauses and guiding language
- Using imagery, metaphor, symbolism and sensory language
- Creating opportunities for client choice and autonomy
- Developing grounding, settling and resourcing elements
- Adapting visualisations to individual needs and therapeutic goals
- Considerations around trauma-informed and emotionally safe practice
- Working sensitively with different experiences, beliefs and abilities
- When visualisation or meditation may not be appropriate
- Moving from an idea or intention to a written therapeutic intervention
Throughout the day, you will have opportunities to experiment with language, explore different structures and begin developing your own therapeutic visualisation or meditation.
The aim is not to teach you a script to repeat. It is to give you the understanding and tools to create interventions that have meaning and purpose within your own therapeutic practice.
Day Two: Bringing Your Own Work Into Practice
The second day is deliberately practical.
You will return with a visualisation or meditation that you have developed and have the opportunity to bring it into practice, experience it and learn from the process.
This day provides space to explore what happens when an intervention moves from the written page into the therapeutic relationship.
We will consider:
- Reading and delivering your visualisation or meditation
- Experiencing the intervention from the participant perspective
- Exploring voice, tone, pacing and pauses
- Noticing how language lands and where it may need refining
- Practising therapeutic presence while guiding an intervention
- Receiving constructive and supportive feedback
- Reflecting on the emotional and sensory experience of the intervention
- Adapting your work in response to feedback
- Considering different client presentations and therapeutic needs
- Exploring how the intervention could be used within 1:1 and group settings
- Developing confidence in introducing and closing a visualisation safely
- Considering grounding and integration following an intervention
- Reflecting on your own developing therapeutic style
There will be space to practise, listen, reflect, refine and try again.
You will learn not only from delivering your own work, but also from experiencing the approaches developed by others and considering how different practitioners use language, imagery and therapeutic intention.
By the end of the two days
You will have developed a deeper understanding of how visualisations and meditations can be incorporated into therapeutic practice, alongside practical experience in creating, delivering and refining your own interventions.
You will leave with:
Understanding
A stronger theoretical and practical understanding of therapeutic visualisation and meditation.
Tools
A framework for developing your own interventions rather than relying solely on pre-written scripts.
Practice
Experience of delivering and experiencing therapeutic visualisations and meditations.
Confidence
Greater confidence in using your voice, language, pacing and therapeutic presence.
Reflection
An opportunity to consider how your interventions fit with your existing therapeutic approach.
A developing resource
Your own written visualisation or meditation that you have created, practised and refined during the workshop.
This workshop is for professionals who want to deepen their practice
This training is aimed at therapists, counsellors and practitioners who already have a foundation in therapeutic practice and would like to expand the interventions available to them.
It is not about becoming a meditation teacher. It is about developing the knowledge, creativity and practical skills to create and use visualisations and meditations intentionally within therapeutic work.
