Support Groups

Support group work with Phiona

At Mindful Moments Therapies, Phiona offers compassionate, support group spaces for individuals navigating some of life’s most tender and misunderstood experiences. Available both online, these groups provide a steady, supportive environment where participants can explore, process, and gently integrate complex emotions in the company of others who understand.

With a deep respect for the body–mind connection and a passion for somatically led therapeutic approaches, Phiona facilitates specialist support groups designed to bring healing through connection, reflection, and embodied awareness.

Phiona’s approach: all groups are shaped by a trauma-informed, and somatic-led framework.

Phiona integrates:

  • Gentle somatic awareness
  • Breath-based regulation practices
  • Reflective group dialogue
  • Psychoeducation around grief, attachment, and nervous system responses
  • An emphasis on curiosity, consent, and emotional pacing

These are inclusive spaces where complexity is welcomed, and no experience is “too much” or “not enough.” Healing in group settings can be deeply powerful, not because everyone’s story is the same, but because no one has to carry theirs alone.

To preserve a sense of safety, connection, and personal attention, groups are intentionally kept small, with a maximum of 12 participants.

Before signing up for your chosen support group, please contact Phiona directly to ensure the group is the right fit for you and to confirm current availability. An initial conversation helps ensure the space meets your needs and allows you to discuss any questions or concerns beforehand.

Healing in a group setting can be deeply powerful, not because everyone’s story is the same, but because no one has to carry theirs alone.

Animal Bereavement Support Group

Pet Loss and Animal Bereavement Support Group

Are you struggling with the loss of a beloved pet, animal companion, or support animal? At Mindful Moments Therapies, Phiona offers compassionate, peer-based support groups specifically for pet bereavement and companion animal grief. These groups are designed to help you navigate the emotional impact of your loss and honour the unique bond shared with your companion animal.

Facilitated by Phiona, a trained veterinary nurse, bereavement counsellor, and specialist in pet loss support (trained by the Blue Cross), the group provides a supportive and understanding space for those mourning the loss of a companion animal. Her professional background offers a deeply informed, empathetic approach to a form of grief that is often misunderstood or overlooked by wider society.

Whether your loss is recent or something you’ve carried quietly for years, you are not alone. This group offers the opportunity to explore your grief, connect with others, and begin your healing journey.

Family, Sibling and Parent-Child Estrangement Support Group

Estrangement between family members, siblings, or a parent and child, whether initiated by the individual or mutually, can be a deeply painful and often hidden experience. It brings a complex mix of grief, guilt, confusion, and sometimes relief. Phiona offers a dedicated support group that acknowledges the emotional weight and nuance of estrangement without judgment or assumptions.

This group supports individuals navigating partial or unclear disconnection within their family dynamic. Through a trauma-informed, Somatic-led, and compassion-focused approach, the group provides a supportive space to speak openly about a stigmatised and often isolating experience. Breath and somatic practices to help regulate difficult emotions and nervous system responses. Reflection and meaning-making to support clarity, boundaries, and healing. Gentle connection with others who understand the silent weight of family separation

Phiona holds this group with care and neutrality, ensuring that all stories are respected, whether you seek reconciliation, peaceful distance, or simply understanding. There is no “right way” to navigate estrangement; there is only your way.

Sessions are offered online, on a drop-in basis, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7 pm - 8 pm, so you are welcome to join as and when you need support. Places are limited to ensure a safe, personal and connected environment.
