EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping therapy, is a holistic healing practice that uses a combination of acupressure and psychology to relieve physical and emotional pain. EFT is based on the principle that the mind and body are interconnected, and that unresolved emotional issues can manifest as physical symptoms. The technique involves tapping on specific acupressure points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or condition. EFT was developed in the 1990s by Gary Craig, a Stanford engineering graduate and personal performance coach. Craig was interested in the meridian energy system in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its potential for healing traumas and negative emotions. Craig studied TCM and combined it with psychological therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), to create EFT.

EFT

EFT is based on the principle that emotional experiences and traumas get stored in the body's energy system and can disrupt the normal flow of energy throughout the body’s meridian system. In TCM, the energy or life force is called "Qi" (pronounced "chee") and flows through the body along pathways known as meridians. These meridians can become blocked, and this blocked energy can lead to physical pain and emotional distress. EFT involves tapping specific acupuncture points on the face, chest, and hands while focusing on a particular issue or condition. The tapping process stimulates the energy meridians and clears blockages to allow for the flow of energy to return to normal. As the energy flows more freely, it leads to a reduction in negative emotions and physical symptoms.

EFT works by reducing stress and releasing emotional blocks, which can lead to a reduction in physical pain and negative emotions. It is believed that tapping on the specific acupressure points on the body can help to stimulate the body's natural healing system and allow for a more balanced flow of energy. When energy flows continuously, it can lead to a state of greater wellbeing.

EFT is a holistic healing technique that can be effective in addressing physical and emotional health issues. It is based on the principle that unresolved emotional issues can disrupt the flow of energy in the body's meridian system and lead to physical pain and negative emotions. Through the process of tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a particular issue or condition, EFT clears blockages in the energy meridians and promotes a balanced flow of energy throughout the body.
